Exploring the solar system manned

Exploring the solar system manned, including NASA's future plans. What other projects has the agency

End of space shuttle program NASA is not the end. American Agency has a very serious exploration, technological development and scientific research, which will last "at least half a century" to come, says Charles Bolden, NASA administrator.

"As a former astronaut and current NASA administrator, you say that American-led space exploration will continue at least half a century from now, because we laid the foundation for success and failure is not an option," said NASA administrator .

Some of the projects the agency:

EXPLORATION

NASA prepares to send humans to explore deep solar system, one objective is landing on Mars. Will be built Multi-Purpose Vehicle Crew (MPCV), designed based on the design Orion capsule that will have sufficient capacity for four astronauts on missions lasting 21 days.

Design will be announced soon for Space Launch System for sending shuttle crew and equipment beyond Earth orbit.

Agency is developing the technologies needed to explore the solar system manned, including solar electric propulsion, refueling stations orbit the Earth, radiation protection and safety systems to support high life.

International Space Station

ISS is central to human activity in space, orbiting the Earth. The station is very safe, with a crew of six astronauts will continue to live and work in space, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Part of the station was equipped as a laboratory and NASA will continue to use this resource to scientific research.

Space Station is also the place to test technology for exploration, space shuttle as refueling or performing life support systems. Commercial companies are very pleased to provide ships to transport crew and supplies to the ISS, allowing American Space Agency to focus on next steps in our solar system.

AVIATION

NASA investigates ways to design and build safer aircraft with a fuel efficient, quieter and more environmentally responsible. Also working on creating a system of air traffic management safer, more efficient and flexible. Also developed a technology that improves aircraft control during flight and allow the aircraft to climb and descend from cruising altitude or without interruption.

Researchers at NASA are confident that we can build an airplane to use less fuel with fewer emissions and quieter.

SCIENCE

NASA lead an unprecedented series of missions to collect new information about Earth, solar system and universe.

On July 16, Dawn spacecraft began a year visit the asteroid Vesta. Research asteroid surface will help to understand a chapter in the history of early solar system.

In August, the Juno spacecraft will be launched to investigate Jupiter's origins, structure and atmosphere.

In September, the National Polar-Orbiting project launch Operational Environmental Satellite System Preparatory will be a crucial step for building a new generation of satellites to monitor Earth.

The Agency will return to the moon to study the gravitational field of the natural satellite and to determine its internal structure, with the Grail mission (Gravity Recovery and Interior Laboratory The), which will be released in October.

In November, Mars Science Laboratory will be launched on a journey Curiosity to Mars to search for possible evidence of microbial life on Mars.

In February, NASA will launch the network of telescopes Nuclear Spectroscopy research black holes, supernova explosions and studying the extreme activities of the galaxy.
